“Men always forget that

human happiness

is a disposition of mind and

not a condition

of circumstances.”

John Locke

I have heard on many occasions people saying that they are not happy or that someone is not giving them happiness anymore. What I have come to realize in my life is that we are responsible for our own happiness. No one should be responsible for another's happiness because that's just not going to work. Some people live in a constant search for joy and others just lose their lives looking for it, because they didn't understand how to achieve it.

In this constant search of happiness, we wonder what this emotion really is. To me happiness is the state of being happy, it is the feeling of joy or euphoria that most people seek. Knowing this, you have to ask yourself what is happiness for you and in which moments in life do you feel joy? For everyone this is different, but for some, it’s usually related to, places, situations, or people. These things may all spark joy in some sort of way, but they don’t explain the deep and constant state of happiness.

Self-love. For starters I am a fan of self-love. I think everyone should implement it in their lives; even though most of the time it is really hard to get it and to understand it. As I said before, happiness comes from within, and it comes from yourself to yourself. How is it possible to feel these emotions if you don't love yourself? Though it's hard to understand, it is mostly true, and it makes a lot of sense. Have you ever heard the saying that goes, you can't love someone else if you don't love yourself? Let me elaborate, I believe that when you don't love yourself, you are trying to love other people in a sort of compensation way. However, to me love has to be completely selfless and unique.

Gratitude is one of the best values and lessons anyone has taught me. In this search of happiness, we tend to find ourselves seeking for something that we don't have; and we usually believe that once we reach that goal, we have achieved contentment. Therefore, when living in that state of gratitude, nothing is missing, and everything is valuable. Everything has a meaning and a purpose and that becomes really important and beautiful. So, when feeling nothing is missing, you can see that you have everything you need and more to become the person you want to be.

To conclude I would like to highlight the main aspects that were stated. These include gratitude, self-love, and making yourself happy. So, I’m inviting you to start the journey where you are aware of your surroundings and know how to be happy, without depending on
