Multiple Choice Question Hack
By : Tatiana Silva 10°A
We all have had trouble with multiple-choice questions either on quizzes or exams, but did you know there is a way to get them (most of the time) right? It is simple once you get the hang of it, but you need to focus and pay close attention to details in the answers.
Quick disclaimer: This trick does not work 100% of the time, so it is better if you study for your tests instead of relying solely on this method. Use it only when you are not sure of the answer or all of the options seem similar to you. Also, in no way am I encouraging you not to study, I’m just teaching you a trick I use sometimes.
Okay, let’s begin. Usually, in multiple-choice questions, there is an option that can’t possibly be the answer, so we’re going to dismiss that option. Now we have three options left. You will notice they have things in common, but there is one that shares similarities with all of the other options. That is the correct answer.
Here is an example of what I just explained:
What two colors make up green?
Blue and red c. red and orange
Red and yellow d. Blue and yellow
Right off the bat, c can’t possibly be the answer, so we just dismiss that option. Options a and d share blue, and b and d share yellow, so the answer is d.
Once you get the hang of these types of questions, you can answer more difficult and tricky ones. And once again, it is much better if you study than just using this method; because, as I mentioned earlier, it isn't 100% effective.
