A path to help animals
MarÃa Belén Ruiz 6A
My name is MarÃa Belén Ruiz, from 6A, and I have been a vegetarian since last year, but the truth is that since I was very, very little, I have loved animals and nature. I liked going to forests and fields a lot, and I also said that when I grew up I wanted to help the environment with my work. I also remember that when we went to farms with the school, I always felt very sorry for the animals and them being eaten. So much that at age nine I wanted to become a vegetarian. However, it was a bit difficult since I was very young and my family and I didn’t know how to have a sustainable diet without animal protein. So we postponed it for a while but I still loved animals and I kept going to the countryside to admire them and spend time with them. Then at the age of 11, I became a vegetarian since I was very sorry for the suffering of animals. Also, I became very interested in helping to stop global warming, climate change, etc and learned that eating meat affects the environment a lot.I decided that I would never eat meat again in my life and also that year I joined the PRAE team for the first time.
It has been a year after that and I'm still a vegetarian and I'm trying to go vegan, thanks to the fact that now my mom and my whole family are more experts on the subject and to cook delicious meals, helping the planet at the same time. Apart from informing my family, I sometimes try through my social networks to communicate about the climate crisis and also about veganism.
