Songs I can’t get tired of listening right now

By: Silvana Valdivieso Reyes 10ºA

Constantly I find myself putting on my headphones and completely disconnecting from the outside world. The sound of instruments, their vibrations, the artist’s voice, and its beats, makes listening music an incredible experience where the senses and the soul search for peace and relief. Lately, there have been some songs that I just can't get out of my head, they’re way too good! Taking into account this, today I’m going to share with you some of these songs and my reflections regarding them.

Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy

This is my favorite Queen song. Its rhythm is just so precious to me because it carries so many good vibes with it; everytime I hear it I just wanna dance it with every inch of my body. The guitar and bass are spectacular (you can’t expect anything less from Brian May and John Deacon), how Roger plays the drums is a very good complement to the song structure, and Freddie’s piano performance it’s fabulous as always (I really like it too because it’s my favourite instrument). However, definitely its best part is the breathtaking vocals with their special sonority and use, almost as a game, of musical tonic in the voices of the band. This makes a magical experience to the ears. All in all, the song is executed in a clever way to create an emotional feeling on the listeners.

Levitating

The song of the moment, Levitating is the ultimate 2021 bop. I have not met one single person who doesn’t like it, being a trend in almost all the social media (specially Instagram and TikTok). Realized as the main single of her second album Future Nostalgia, which you should also listen too because it is very good, Dualipa managed to create a song that is so addicting and well written. The use of synthesizers and mix of styles from the 80's and 90’s, as the catchy letter that tells the story of a spatial love and how it makes her levitate, creates a fun environment that definitely transports you to another planet. The song is so popular, that it is considered as a savior of pop music during a very hard time for everyone: the global pandemic. If you don’t want to sing in a wounded scream every time Levitating plays, are you really okay?

Burning Pile

With a very cool rhythm, the canadian indie rock band Mother Mother presents Burning Pile with a very interesting message that is so accurate for our daily lives (at least for me). The chorus says “All my troubles on a burning pile, all lit up and I start to smile”, which at first may seem a little radical, but when it's analized we can see how it portrays the feeling of overwhelmedness. The 4:22 minutes of the song are an absolute liberation of all the worries you may have, and I can assure you that after singing it with your heart, maybe even crying, life would become more handleable. The use of instruments on this song is also amazing, having a captivating melody made of a mixing the trumpet, guitar, piano, bass, and so much more!

My invitation there is for you to listen to these incredible songs, in case you haven't done it already, and hopefully add them to your playlist if you like them. As it can be seen, the sensations that music can bring into life are just spectacular. Give yourself a chance to discover new styles and genres from different time periods, just like these songs!
