Movies I have watched lately, and why you should watch them too

I believe that everyone, especially with quarantine, is looking for new hobbies and ways of distracting themselves since being at home can get boring and maybe not full of surprises. So my new hobby is watching movies; I know it is not very exciting, but for me, analyzing and going deeper into the plotline is pretty gratifying and interesting. That is why, today, I am going to talk about some movies I have watched, and the reasons why you should watch them too!
Disclaimer: everyone has a different preference when talking about movies, so I recommend that, if you are going to watch any of these, try to do a little research, like watching the trailer or looking at the movie’s score and ratings on Imdb.
First, I want to talk about American beauty. This movie is about a man who is having a midlife crisis because he has fallen in love with his daughter’s friend. This movie, with that premise, can be a little unsettling (tell me, I was hesitating whether to watch it or not). However, today, I do not regret watching it! This movie touches on some very intriguing topics, as redemption, conformity, beauty, and repression. Likewise, there is an extremely fascinating analysis of this movie about the American dream and how it has been romanticized over time. So, if you like the drama and satire genre, you probably would like this movie!
Secondly, another film that caught my attention was the Pan’s Labyrinth. This film is about a bookish stepdaughter of a sadistic army officer that escapes into an eerie but captivating fantasy world. I loved the story that is portrayed since it shows how war and traumatic experiences can change a little kid’s imagination completely. Besides, the creativity behind every single creature and character is honestly, amusing and pretty impressive in my opinion. I will simply say that this is the perfect combination between fantasy, innocence, and a creepy atmosphere that gives an extra something to the whole story.
In third place is Knives Out. As a personal lover of criminal types of movies, this took me by surprise. All of the facets and layers that the story presents are quite surprising and do not let you take your eyes off the screen. Furthermore, it is pretty compelling and funny to see how characters change their opinions and ideas just because they want money or because they have a common benefit. And another whole thing is the plot twist: you do not know what to believe in. Maybe if you like plot twists and being kind of a detective, you may enjoy this movie!
To sum up, there is great variety in terms of genres or mention themes, so you have a lot of options to look at. These are just some of my favorites, and I hope you find the same interest and amazement as I did!
